The Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association has written a letter to the commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) asking to remove the idea of ââfood trucks from the 24/7 nightlife in Mumbai.
The association said if food trucks were allowed to operate, their business would be badly affected. Food trucks will also cause traffic and hygiene problems, he added.
The association also said free-standing restaurants such as near train stations should be allowed to stay open all night.
Association President Shivanand Shetty said, âWe are sincerely grateful that we have initiated the nightlife, but it will take some time for people to get started. We also have serious concerns about certain decisions taken. do people come to the restaurant? Attendance will be less. The owner of the restaurant is already paying so much in extra costs. His business will be affected. We believe this is unfair to our industry and will affect our business more and also deprive us of the benefits as the common man in our industry deals with.
Shetty added in the letter to the BMC commissioner: âThe policy would be seen to benefit only certain classes and not the masses in general. existing legal infrastructure available to promote the whole idea behind 24×7. “
